Dubai is Middle East’s best city in 2020, beats LA and Singapore

  DUBAI – A new study of the world’s top cities has named Dubai as the best city in the Middle East and North Africa in 2020. Dubai beat Los Angeles and Singapore in the ranking of the world’s 100 best performing cities, according to the study by US consultancy firm Resonance. In the category for top 100 best performing cities, Dubai came in sixth place, raking highly for safety and quality of parks and outdoor activities. It also ranked third as the world’s best place for attractions. "Dubai is where you can ride the elevator to the top of the world’s tallest building for a bird’s eye view, on the ponies at the world’s richest horse race and pose for photos in front of the world’s tallest choreographed fountains," the report reads. New attractions, such as the Coca-Cola Arena and the upcoming The Tower and Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, also contributed to Dubai’s ranking. The study looked at the quality of the place, product, programming, people, prosperity and promotion in compiling the list of the world’s best cities in 2020. It also included factors such as public safety, landmarks and attractions, culture, diversity, dining options, economic prosperity and weather. The report also noted Dubai’s open atmosphere, stating that “no other city in the emirates is as religiously open, socially liberal and future-forward as Dubai.” In the shopping category, Dubai landed in 30th place, with The Dubai Mall and the nature-inspired Cityland Mall boosting its ranking. Meanwhile, the neighbouring emirate of Abu Dhabi also made it to 14th place in the list of the world’s top 100 best cities.
