Dubai has secured its position among the world’s top 10 cities in the Global Power City Index (GPCI), ranking first in the Middle East and eighth globally for the second consecutive year. The annual report by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation highlights the emirate’s exceptional performance in innovation, economic dynamism, and global connectivity. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, credited the achievement to the visionary leadership of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. “Dubai continues to redefine what is possible, combining innovation, sustainability, and a focus on nurturing talent,” Sheikh Hamdan said. The GPCI evaluates cities based on six criteria: Economy, Research and Development, Cultural Interaction, Livability, Environment, and Accessibility. Dubai excelled in categories such as business environment, infrastructure, and livability, making it a magnet for global talent and investment. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized Dubai’s flexible legislative framework and its strong public-private sector collaborations as key drivers of success. “We are not just keeping pace with the world; we are setting new benchmarks for excellence,” he added. The Crown Prince also underscored Dubai’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation. “By embracing strategic growth, we are creating opportunities across industries and consolidating Dubai’s status as a city of the future,” he said. Dubai’s continuous rise in global rankings reflects its ambition to become a leading hub for business, tourism, and innovation. In 2024 alone, the emirate attracted numerous multinational corporations and hosted landmark events that drew millions of visitors. The city’s world-class infrastructure and lifestyle appeal make it a preferred destination for professionals and families alike. This success aligns with Dubai’s broader vision of becoming the smartest and happiest city in the world. ICA/Expat Media
