Despite the UAE’s recent decision to allow recreational drone use under specific conditions, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) confirmed that such activities remain restricted in Dubai. This clarification follows the January 7 announcement by the UAE Ministry of Interior and General Civil Aviation Authority permitting drones for individual use nationwide. In Dubai, however, recreational drone use is still “under review.” Officials emphasized the need for compliance with Dubai’s laws, citing safety and privacy concerns. “The review process ensures drones can be integrated safely without compromising public safety,” a DCAA representative explained. Drone users must register their devices with the GCAA and adhere to strict guidelines, including daylight operations and avoiding commercial activities.
