A Dubai resident received a reward from Dubai Police for reporting an incident involving a reckless driver. Ellie Marie Perrier received a certificate of appreciation from Dubai Police for her cooperation though the We Are All Police program. She thanked police for the recognition. Colonel Muhammad Al Qaydi, Acting Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic, presented the certificate to Perrier, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the community and police. He said that a number of community members experience situations on the roads that can endanger their lives or the lives of others due to reckless drivers. He urged the public to report reckless drivers and traffic violations through the Dubai Police app or by calling 901. "We don't issue fines against individuals after immediately receiving the report. We first verify the report, check available cameras and systems, and contact to warn violators before issuing any tickets," Al Qaydi said. Last year, a Filipina passerby who reported a man being abducted in a street in Dubai was also rewarded by the Dubai Police. Cherilyn Gamba Cabag’s crucial call to police saved the Asian victim’s life and led to the arrest of his three assailants. Dubai Police honoured her for her “valiant effort” to solve the crime.
