Rolex with Sheikh Mohammed’s signature sold for Dh1.1M

A Rolex watch with the signature of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum sold for $300,000 (Dh1.1 million) at a recent auction in Dubai. The Rolex Daytona, made around 1978, features the UAE coat of arms and the Arabic signature of Sheikh Mohammed, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed was the UAE’s Minister of Defence when the watch was created. The rare watch was part of 10 watches and 10 super cars sold at the inaugural auction by RM Sotheby’s in Dubai, which grossed a total of $17.381 million (Dh63.788 million) in sales. For super cars sold at the auction, the top seller was a 2016 Koenigsegg Agera RSR that sold for $3.38 million (Dh12.4 million). This was followed by a 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss that sold for a record-breaking $3.211 million (Dh11.784 million).
