Dubai: RTA to build 3 new truck rest stops in partnership with Adnoc, Almutakamela

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has contracted private companies to build three all-inclusive Truck Rest Stops. The contract was made with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration. Three integrated Truck Rest Stops that accommodate 500 trucks and heavy vehicles will be built across 226,000 square meters under the contracts. The three stations will provide an array of services to increase the safety and well-being of drivers. They feature driver housing, maintenance workshops, restaurants, administrative buildings, prayer rooms, driver training centers, clinics, pharmacies, exchange shops, laundry, and other support services for truck and heavy vehicle drivers. The three stations are located near major transport routes and logistics cities. International standards will ensure safe station entry and exit. Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration operates the Trucks Rest Stop on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road near Jebel Ali Free Zone and Al Maktoum International Airport. The 100,000-square-metre facility can hold 200 trucks and big vehicles. Adnoc operates the second station near Emirates Road and the Al Tayy Racetrack. It holds 150 vehicles in 76 thousand square meters. The third station, which Almutakamela also handles, is located close the access to the Dubai Industrial City (DIC) and encompasses 51,000 square meters, and has a capacity of roughly 120 trucks and heavy vehicles. Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA, welcomed this partnership with the private sector and the rising involvement of private firms in infrastructure and services projects. "The agreement concluded with Adnoc and Almutakamela to build and operate these three rest-stops, aims to enhance the safety and well-being of drivers by providing amenities and services they need in daily life.
