Dubai is gearing up for the highly anticipated Dubai Run 2024, with thousands of participants expected to take part in the city-wide fitness event. To accommodate the runners, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the temporary closure of four major roads on Sunday (November 24). The closures, which will last from 3:30am to 10:30am, include key sections of Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Sukook Street, Lower Financial Centre Road, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. The move is intended to ensure the safety of participants and streamline the event's logistics. Residents and visitors are advised to plan their journeys accordingly. The RTA has suggested alternative routes to minimize disruptions, including the upper level of Financial Centre Road, Zaabeel Palace Street, Al Mustaqbal Road, Al Wasl Road, Al Khail Road, and Al Badaa Street. Meanwhile, the Dubai Metro will have an extended service on Sunday, with the Red Line and Green Line to operate from 3am until midnight. “The Dubai Run is a celebration of fitness and community spirit,” an RTA spokesperson said. “We urge residents to cooperate by using alternative routes and allowing extra time for their commute.” This year’s Dubai Run is expected to attract participants of all ages and fitness levels, reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. Organizers have laid out a scenic route that showcases iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and Sheikh Zayed Road, which transforms into a running track for the day. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to avoid delays. Spectators are also welcome, adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere. The Dubai Run has grown significantly since its inception in 2019, becoming one of the largest free fitness events in the world. This year’s edition promises to build on that success, offering a memorable experience for all involved.
