The world’s largest fun run, Dubai Run 2024, has opened for registration as of Monday (October 21). The annual event, set for November 24, will transform the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road into a massive race track for thousands of runners, joggers, and walkers. This year’s edition, a key part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), offers two distinct routes: a 5km route designed for families and beginners, and a 10km route for more seasoned runners. The DFC, launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, aims to encourage residents and visitors of all ages to commit to 30 minutes of exercise daily for 30 consecutive days, from October 28 to November 24. Registration is free of charge and can be completed online at dubairun.com. Registered participants will receive a free t-shirt and bib, which they can collect at the Dubai Municipality Zabeel Park 30x30 Fitness Village in Zabeel Park, starting November 11. “We are thrilled to welcome even more participants this year, as we anticipate breaking last year’s record of 226,000 runners,” said an official from the Dubai Sports Council. The event will see Sheikh Zayed Road temporarily closed to traffic, allowing participants to enjoy the unique experience of running along Dubai’s busiest highway. Runners can expect a vibrant atmosphere with families, fitness enthusiasts, and even newcomers joining the event. The Dubai Fitness Challenge also includes events like the Dubai Stand-Up Paddle on November 2 and the Dubai Ride on November 10.
