With Dubai Run coming this Sunday, participants are now busy preparing for the race. Running any race requires dedication and preparation. If you intend to compete in a running event, here are some things you should do to prepare: 1. Make sleep a top priority During your training, try to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep per night. Some people require more, while others require less. However, it is essential to listen to your body's needs. Evidence shows that even a small amount of sleep loss can impair sports performance. As race day approaches, prioritize getting enough rest as you aim to be attentive and energized. 2. Stay hydrated both before and during the race Runners must avoid dehydration. In most circumstances, plain old water is the best option. Hydrating before, during, and after long runs is a smart idea. 3. Begin slowly Finally, don't try to break a record in the first mile. It is better to pace yourself and stick to your time goal plan. Begin slowly and progressively increase your stride length until you're at your typical training pace. In running races, the primary goal is to cross the finish line. However, it's important to remember that although races are meant to be challenging, they are also meant to be enjoyed.
