Dubai school shut down for 2 days after students fall sick

DUBAI – A kindergarten school in Dubai will be closed for two days as a precautionary measure after several students fell sick from possible “viral infection”. In a notice to parents, the Kindergarten Starters in Garhoud said the school will be closed from Wednesday (April 10) to Thursday for deep cleaning. The school said it received calls from around six parents “intimating us that their children had developed slight fever and vomiting”. The affected children belonged to different classes. “In the eventuality if your child developing similar symptoms you are advised to seek medical attention and do not send your child to school if he or she does not feel well. In all possibility it is a viral infection as was told to the parents who had called us," the school cautioned. Officials from the Dubai Municipality and Dubai Health Authority have reportedly visited the school to monitor and investigate the situation, with officials from the school’s operator, GEMS Education, “taking all necessary actions to resolve the situation as quickly as possible”.
