A montage of rain in Dubai and frost in Ras Al Khaimah on January 3, 2025. NCM/STORM.AE

Residents in Dubai woke up to the year’s first rain on Friday (January 3), as showers swept across Downtown Dubai, Ras Al Khor, and other parts of the emirate. Meanwhile, Ras Al Khaimah’s Jebel Jais saw frost, marking a rare and picturesque start to the new year. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecast temperatures to plunge to 3°C in mountainous areas, 5°C in internal regions, and 11°C along coastal zones on Friday. Highs will reach a cool 24°C, offering a stark contrast to the frosty conditions. Rainfall varied in intensity across Sharjah, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah earlier in the week. These wet conditions are part of a weather system that has brought intermittent showers in parts of the country since January 1.
