Dubai: South African pilot dies after glider crash
A South African pilot died after his amateur-built glider crashed on Sunday in Marghem, Dubai. The General Civil Aviation Authority's (GCAA) Air Accident Investigation Division launched an investigation into the cause of the fatal crash. Flying high above the deserts of the UAE is a common pastime for paraglider pilots. The incident is the second of its kind reported in the UAE recently after a glider plane crashed at the parking lot of Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Mosque last week. The amateur-built plane was approaching Al Bateen Executive Airport when it crashed in a remote area due to a technical problem.
