Dubai to begin trial run of electric buses from Australia

Dubai may soon have Australian-made electric public buses in its fleet if a trial run on how the buses can withstand weather conditions here is successful. This came after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) signed an agreement with Australian bus manufacturer BusTech Group to test the operation of its eco-friendly electric buses. During the test run, Australian designed and engineered zero-emissions technology buses will be deployed into Dubai’s public transport network, said Dan Marks, CEO of BusTech Group. The trial run will also test innovative technologies and get feedback from drivers and customers to continuously identify areas of improvement. “RTA’s environmental-friendly plans call for increasing the number of electric and hybrid vehicles, improving energy-efficient facilities, upgrading streetlights, and reducing waste,” said Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Agency at RTA. The agreement between RTA and Australia’s Department of Transport and Main Roads is aimed at enhancing the cooperation between both parties, according to RTA. ICA/Expat Media
