A Dubai secondary school student has been honoured by police after he returned a wallet containing cash and a cheque valued at Dh200,000. Essa Abbas Muhammad Abdullah, a student at Dubai Secondary School, was recognised during a surprise ceremony held in front of his classmates by officers from Al Qusais Police Station. Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Al Hashemi, Deputy Director of Al Qusais Police Station, personally presented the award, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Abdulaziz Al Khaja, Head of the Administrative Affairs Section. The recognition came under Dubai Police’s “We Reach You to Thank You” initiative, which honours individuals at their workplaces, schools, or homes for their positive contributions to society. Lt. Col. Al Hashemi praised Abdullah’s swift action to return the wallet, describing his conduct as “an exemplary act of honesty and civic responsibility.” He added: “We commend this student for immediately contacting the police to ensure the wallet and its contents were returned safely. He has set a valuable example for his peers and the wider community.” The student, visibly moved by the honour, said the recognition was one of the proudest moments of his life. “I am grateful to Dubai Police, especially Al Qusais Police Station, for this recognition. It is something I will always remember and share with my classmates,” Abdullah said. Dubai Police officials urged members of the community to follow the student’s example, noting that acts of integrity, no matter how small, contribute to a safer and more trustworthy society.
