Dubai swimming pool shut down, fitness centres fined

  DUBAI – A public swimming pool at a sports centre in Dubai has been shut down for violating Covid-19 protocols, the Dubai Sports Council announced. Teams from the council and Dubai Economy have conducted inspections of academies, sports centres and fitness centres in the emirate to ensure that they are complying with precautionary measures. The inspection team found the swimming pool in violation of safety protocols. Inspectors also fined a number of fitness centres Dh5,000 for not ensuring physical distance inside the facility, according to Dubai Sports Council. A fitness centre employee was fined Dh3,000 for not wearing a face mask. Facilities have been instructed to enforce 2-metre social distancing, wearing of masks, checking of visitors’ temperature and provision of sanitisers in the premises.
