The body of 19-year-old Dubai resident Shaun D’Souza, who died while hiking in the northern emirates, will be repatriated to India on Saturday (September 21), his family said. Shaun, an Indian expat and student at Heriot Watt University, died on September 15 due to suspected heatstroke during a hiking trip. A popular figure among friends and church members, Shaun was an experienced hiker who enjoyed outdoor adventures. On the day of the incident, he was trekking with friends when he suddenly collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful. Tributes have been pouring in for Shaun, with a wake held at the Muhaisnah Medical Fitness Centre on Friday (September 20). A memorial mass was held at St. Mary’s Church, Dubai, where community members gathered to pay their respects. Friends described Shaun as a kind-hearted young man who was deeply involved in his university and church. Shaun’s body will be flown back to his family’s hometown in Karnataka, India, where he will be buried.
