The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a one-year prison sentence imposed by the Criminal Court on three individuals guilty of stealing Dh3,500 from an employee at a knifepoint in the Naif district. The convicted were also fined Dh3,5000 each and will be deported after serving their sentences. The investigation began in December of last year when an Asian employee reported being robbed and assaulted by a gang while on his way to the Naif neighborhood. The employee explained that he was unexpectedly assaulted by three people while on his way to the Naif neighborhood around midnight. He tried to resist the attackers, who demanded him to hand over his money while threatening him and beating him with blunt objects in different parts of his body, before fleeing the place, the court heard. The gang member was identified and apprehended by the Dubai Police after their search and investigation. The employee also identified the suspects. They admitted to robbing the victim and dividing the stolen money among themselves. BKM/ Expat Media
