Dubai tourists rescued from sinking boat, police reward rescuers

DUBAI – A yacht cruise off Dubai would have quickly turned into a horrific experience if not for the swift efforts of alert crew members, police said. The yacht had stopped in the middle of the sea during a sightseeing tour to let its passengers, a group of tourists, swim in the sea. However, the captain of the Sky & Sea Adventures yacht noticed that water was getting into the engine room of the 42-foot yacht. It would be enough to sink the yacht if the situation persisted. The captain then contacted the Dubai Police Operations to report the situation, and police rescue boats quickly arrived at the scene to rescue everyone. During the rescue operation, another Sky & Sea Adventures boat also joined the operation to take some of the tourists onboard and deliver them back to the port. The Port Police in Dubai awarded the crew members for their heroic efforts in helping rescue the group of tourists.
