Dubai on track to flattening coronavirus curve

DUBAI – Dubai is on track to flattening the curve and overcoming the coronavirus pandemic, said the head of the Covid-19 Command and Control Centre. The high rate of recoveries and a declining number of infections are indicators that Dubai is moving steadily to beating the pandemic, said Dr. Ahmer Ahmad Sharif, head of Dubai’s Covid-19 Command and Control Centre. Many hospitals in Dubai do not have any Covid-19 patients, Dr. Sharif said. "Most government and private hospitals in the emirate have resumed diagnostic and treatment services and their capacity is not under pressure due to Covid-19 cases," he said. The official also said coronavirus cases have significantly declined in the last three months. "The rate of infections in the last three weeks has fallen considerably while the rate of recoveries has increased. The number of cases requiring hospitalisation also saw a decline," he said. On Tuesday, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 346 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 732 cases of recovery. Recoveries are now double the number of reported cases on a daily bases. The number of active coronavirus cases in the country also fell to its lowest in more than a month at 13,828. Authorities said rigorous and accessible testing across the country has helped the UAE stem the rise in new Covid-19 cases. ICA/Expat Media
