The Dubai Misdemeanour and Violations Court sentenced two Asian men to one month in jail and fined them a total of Dh211,000 for defrauding an electronics trader and stealing 48 mobile phones. The incident dates back to August 2024 when a salesperson reported that he was tricked by the suspects who posed as potential buyers. The complainant had been directed by his company’s owner to deliver the phones to a building in Naif and collect payment. Upon arrival, the first suspect introduced the second as the buyer. After handing over the devices, the second suspect led the salesperson toward a nearby office, claiming that the payment was there. He then fled with the goods. When questioned, the first suspect attempted to escape but was caught on the scene. The complainant immediately contacted his employer, who then reported the matter to the police. ICA/Expat Media
