Two persons were sentenced to three years in prison by the Dubai Criminal Court (one in absentia) for robbing a couple and threatening to kill them. The crime occurred in the Dubai Investment Park neighborhood. A man said that he had been assaulted and robbed and that two persons had run over his girlfriend in the parking lot of his building. According to the victim's statement, two guys wearing hats and masks attacked the couple as they walked to the girlfriend's car in the parking lot. The victim tried to fight as the attacker approached with a firearm and threatened to kill him. They allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and seized a bag containing Dh8,000 in addition to personal documents. The girl also claimed that she was assaulted and threatened with death and that the attackers attempted to kidnap the couple when she said that she had heart problems and may die at any time. According to police documents, the CID team was able to identify and apprehend one of the two suspects. He admits to taking part in the crime. The two have been fined Dh11,000 and will be deported from the state after their sentences are completed. BKM/ Expat Media
