A court has ordered two men to pay Dh400,000 in blood money to the families of two Saudi Arabian women killed in a car accident. The incident occurred on July 3 in Al Barsha, and the verdict was delivered on Monday. Police reported that the incident also injured four other people. The two men, one of Bangladeshi descent and the other of Indian, were reportedly driving carelessly on the day of the incident, according to testimony presented to the Dubai Traffic Court. The Bangladeshi driver halted his vehicle in the middle of a busy street and started to reverse. The Indian struck the car after failing to notice it while driving a different vehicle. A Saudi Arabian family was riding in a third vehicle struck by both cars. Four additional family members suffered only minor injuries, while two women involved in the collision sustained severe injuries and died quickly. The men requested to be exonerated in court and refuted the accusations against them, but they were nonetheless found guilty. Per the judge's order, the Bangladeshi man's driving privileges were suspended for three months. His punishment included a Dh10,000 fine and a Dh320,000 blood money payment to the victims' families. The Indian driver received a Dh2,000 fine and was mandated to pay Dh80,000 in blood money. BKM/ Expat Media
