Dubai villa robbery gang busted, 4 Latinos in police custody Four Latino gang members who carried out a spate of thefts in villas across Dubai have been arrested and are now in police custody, according to Dubai Police. The gang members were arrested after they targeted a bank customer and tried to rob him as he withdrew cash from an ATM. According to police, the gang burglarized houses while homeowners are on vacation, and stole cash, jewellery and luxury watches worth more than Dh2 million. Police said the four suspects were part of an organised international criminal gang that also targeted high-end homes abroad. At a press conference, Major General Jamal Salem Al-Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, said police began an investigation after receiving reports of seven villa thefts in Dubai. The investigation led police to identify the four Latino suspects. Police said the group entered the UAE to carry out villa thefts. They left for a neighbouring country after carrying out the thefts. Police tracked the suspects were able to arrest them when they returned to Dubai a month after committing their crimes. Major Al-Jallaf said investigators placed them under round-the-clock surveillance and arrested them when they tried to rob a bank customer of Dh60,000. During interrogation, the gang members confessed that carried out seven robberies in villas in Dubai, and also in other countries. Dubai Police is coordinating with Interpol to notify these countries.
