Dubai visitors win Dh34,000 in gold at DSF draw

  DUBAI – An Indian mother and her daughter who bought gold jewellery during a visit to Dubai won Dh34,000 worth of gold coins during the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) draw. Meenakshi Sunil, 43, and her daughter Archana, 20, bought gold bangles and gold chains worth Dh23,000 at a store in Deira Gold Souk, qualifying them for the draw. The Sunils, from Bangalore, regularly visit Dubai where Meenakshi’s husband works. With each visit, they end up buying gold, they said. For their recent purchase, the mother-daughter duo received 46 raffle coupons to the DSF draw that entitles shoppers to get a ticket for every Dh500 worth of gold they buy at participating shops. There are five winners in daily raffle draws until February 1, with a total of 75 gold coins to be won, and with each coin weighing 8 grams each. Every Saturday starting on January 4, there will be three additional winners of 5 gold coins each.
