Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in cooperation with Parkin, has issued a warning to motorists and residents about unauthorised QR codes appearing on some parking signposts across the city. Authorities said the fake QR codes are not issued through official channels and may be used to mislead users or redirect them to untrusted or fraudulent websites. Members of the public have been advised not to scan or interact with any unknown codes. The RTA and Parkin stressed the importance of verifying payment methods before making any transactions. Residents were urged to avoid entering personal or financial information through links or QR codes from unverified sources. Instead, motorists should use only approved parking payment options, including official mobile apps, SMS services and designated parking payment machines. Both entities also called on the public to report any suspicious QR codes or unusual activity through official channels, saying public cooperation is key to protecting users and preventing fraud. The warning forms part of ongoing efforts by Dubai authorities to raise awareness about digital scams and ensure safe, secure parking services across the emirate.
