Taylor Swift fans in the UAE have been urged to stay vigilant after multiple fake adverts began circulating online, promoting tickets for a non-existent Eras Tour concert supposedly taking place at Coca-Cola Arena this January. The ads, which spread across platforms including Facebook and Instagram, falsely claimed Swift would perform in Dubai on January 31. Some scam websites even offered 30 per cent discounts in an attempt to lure unsuspecting fans during the holiday shopping season. A spokesperson for Coca-Cola Arena confirmed the posts were fraudulent, stressing that Swift has no scheduled performances in the UAE. “There has been an increased number of fake events being associated with Coca-Cola Arena,” the spokesperson said. “Any event not listed on our verified social media platforms or the official website is a scam.” He added that the venue sends legal notices “up to three times a week” to shut down such fraudulent websites and domains. Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has triggered global ticketing frenzies. Tickets sold out in minutes in 2022 as demand surged into the tens of millions. Despite her worldwide popularity, Swift has never performed in the Middle East, making the region ripe for fraudsters hoping to prey on hopeful fans and gift-seeking parents. Scams also mirror wider digital fraud trends in the UAE. Fake tickets have recently been advertised for attractions on Yas Island, including SeaWorld, prompting repeated police warnings. Dubai Police highlighted online ticket scams during a cybersecurity awareness campaign in October. The month-long initiative gathered experts to discuss the rising threat landscape and educate the public. Lt Col Dr Expert Saeed Al Marri said cybersecurity now “forms the backbone of national resilience,” adding: “It is essential for safeguarding our digital society, ensuring the continuity of vital services, and countering the growing threats targeting our institutions.” ICA/Expat Media
