DUBAI – A grand prize of Dh50,000 is up for grabs for the best mural design in the fourth edition of the Dubai Waterfront Market’s Murals and Art competition. Participants can submit their entry starting on Monday (September 6) via https://murals.waterfrontmarket.ae. The winner will also have their mural design on permanent display at the Waterfront Market. This year’s mural theme is on the UAE’s 50th anniversary. “This year’s theme instils us with immense pride as we celebrate the year of the 50th by honouring our country’s progress and achievements in its golden jubilee,” said Mohammad Al Madani, Waterfront Market Manager. A success since its outset four years ago, Waterfront Market’s Murals and Art Competition aims to inspire the community and encourage budding artists and art enthusiasts throughout the UAE to engage with the wider creative community. The annual competition is part of Waterfront Market’s community-focused initiatives and is supported by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. The deadline for submission of entries is on October 28. Participants must be aged 18 and above to qualify. A panel of judges will pick five finalists and the winner will be announced on December 2 and invited to paint their winning Mural design on the wall at the Waterfront Market. Mural painting will be done from December 5 until December 13, with the public given the chance to see the artist’s work in progress. ICA/Expat Media
