An Asian, in collaboration with two others, kidnapped an Asian and kept him inside an apartment in Dubai after assaulting him and threatening to kill him. However, the offenders were apprehended and reported to the public prosecution because the victim provided a friend via WhatsApp with the coordinates of where he was being held. The offenders were given a six-month prison sentence by the Dubai Criminal Court, which was followed by deportation. The incident began in July of last year when an Asian complained that a man and two other people had threatened and kidnapped his companion. According to the complainant, on the day of the occurrence, his friend called and asked for Dh5,000 to pay off a debt. The complainant said his friend sent him a WhatsApp message asking for assistance because three individuals were holding him hostage and threatening to kill him. The victim also provided the coordinates for the residence at Al Khail Gate, Dubai, where he was being held. Accordingly, the complainant gave the police a heads-up. The defendant invited the victim and two other people to dine in a restaurant. The victim said during questioning that he was a friend of the defendant. The defendant demanded the victim return Dh10,000 to him during the dinner and instructed him to ask his family in his country of origin to send the money. However, the victim's father refused to send the money. At this point, the defendant sought the help of the two others to kidnap the victim and keep him inside his apartment, where he was assaulted. The defendants instructed him to get in touch with another individual and demand money, but he was able to call a friend and send him a message of concern that included the coordinates of the place. The defendant admitted helping two other people kidnap the victim to settle a financial disagreement. BKM/ Expat Media
