A Dubai woman has been fined Dh1,000 by the Dubai Misdemeanours Court after being found guilty of verbally assaulting her employer, accusing him of human trafficking and drug dealing during a workplace dispute. The charges stemmed from an April 2023 incident when the woman, of Arab descent, created a scene at work, hurling serious accusations at her employer in front of colleagues. According to court records, the altercation began when the woman became agitated during a disagreement with her employer. She proceeded to shout, making unsubstantiated claims that the employer was involved in immoral activities, including trafficking people and drugs. Despite the employer’s attempts to calm her down, she continued her tirade, causing a commotion in the workplace. Several employees, including a female colleague, testified in court, recounting the woman’s refusal to stop shouting despite their efforts to intervene. The witnesses confirmed that the accused made defamatory statements, accusing the employer of running illegal operations and engaging in indecent acts. The employer, who reported the incident to the authorities, said he tried to de-escalate the situation, but the woman continued to verbally abuse him. He filed a police report after the incident, leading to the court proceedings. During interrogation, the defendant denied the allegations, claiming that the dispute arose from her decision to terminate her employment contract. She argued that her employer had fabricated the accusations to retaliate against her for leaving the company. However, based on the testimony of witnesses and the evidence presented, the court convicted the woman of defamation and slander, sentencing her to a fine of Dh1,000.
