The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the death penalty imposed on the construction worker who murdered an Indian couple on their bed at Arabian Ranches in 2020. The worker was also convicted of attempting to murder the couple's daughter and stealing Dh2,000. According to court documents, he broke into a property in Arabian Ranches' Mirador sector and took Dh1,965 from a wallet on the ground floor. He then walked into the couple's bedroom to look for more. One of the victims awoke to the sound of the nightstand drawer opening. When the worker realized he was awake, he stabbed him to death before turning to the wife. Forensic investigations revealed that the businessman was stabbed ten times in the head, chest, abdomen, and left shoulder. His wife had 14 stab wounds to her head, neck, breast, face, ear, and right arm. The stabs were strong enough to pierce their blanket. As the attacker ran outside the bedroom, he came across the couple's 18-year-old daughter and stabbed her in the neck, causing severe injuries. The girl and her younger sister, 15, saw the horrifying crime scene before the wounded daughter called the police and one of her father's friends. Investigators gathered evidence and concluded that the suspect was a laborer who had worked at the victim's property months before the crime. The defendant admitted to his crime and was sentenced to death. The Court of Appeal then upheld the verdict.
