  DUBAI - A Pakistani worker has been charged with trying to sexually abuse a seven-year-old Egyptian boy. The boy's father, who is an imam, was not at home when the incident happened last November. He was in a mosque to lead the Fajr prayer. Court records showed that the 33-year-old suspect went to the imam's house in Al Habab area to deliver furniture. Seeing that the boy was alone, the worker cornered him in the latter's bedroom and tried to have sex with him. The boy resisted and fled. When the boy's father was informed about the incident, he called the worker to go to his place to confront him about what happened but the defendant refused. The boy's father decided to report the worker to the police. In his testimony, the boy's father said: "My son came to the mosque and he had Dh3 with him. He told me that one of the workers had given him the money. I did not pay much attention and later we went home. When my wife was dressing our child, he refused to put on the same clothes that he was wearing earlier. I heard his argument with his mother. Then he told my wife that he did not want to put on the same dress because the worker had abused him sexually while wearing them. I heard my boy telling his mum that the suspect tried to remove his clothes and touched him in a bad way. I called the worker and asked him to come over repeatedly but he refused. Then I went to the police and complained." During a hearing at the Dubai Court of First Instance, the defendant denied attempting to have sex with the boy and claimed that the father only sued him over a past dispute. But the worker admitted kissing the boy four times on the cheeks. The court will appoint a lawyer for the defendant in the next hearing on the case on April 17.
