The Dubai World Trade Centre roundabout will undergo a significant transformation, with five new bridges set to enhance connectivity and alleviate congestion. The current roundabout will be converted into a surface-level intersection, reducing delay times from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that the project, costing Dh696.4 million, will improve traffic flow at one of Dubai’s busiest intersections. The new bridges, spanning over 5,000 meters, will link Sheikh Zayed Road with major streets, including Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Street, and 2nd December Street. RTA estimates that the improved infrastructure will double the intersection’s capacity, facilitating seamless travel across Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Rashid Street, and 2nd December Street. The project will also provide efficient access to Al Mustaqbal Street, aiding commuters to Dubai World Trade Centre and DIFC. This development is part of Dubai’s broader plan, which includes the Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project. “The project will serve over half a million residents, reducing travel time and supporting Dubai’s goal of enhancing urban mobility,” said an RTA spokesperson. The bridges will include a two-lane bridge from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, two two-lane bridges connecting Sheikh Rashid Street with 2nd December Street, and additional two-lane bridges linking Al Majles Street to 2nd December Street. Completion of the Trade Centre roundabout upgrade will provide uninterrupted traffic flow for key neighborhoods, including DIFC, Jumeirah, Al Satwa, and Karama. ICA/Expat Media
