Dubai’s aviation sector is forecast to generate 185,000 new jobs by 2030, reaching a total workforce of 816,000, according to a recent report by Emirates Group and Dubai Airports. The report, compiled by Oxford Economics, highlights the aviation industry’s expanding role in Dubai’s economy and employment. At the end of 2023, the sector employed approximately 631,000 people, accounting for one in five jobs in Dubai. By 2030, this number is expected to represent one in every four jobs, underscoring the industry’s significance as a driver of economic and employment growth in the emirate. “Supported by strong air connectivity, Dubai has become a global hub for trade, tourism, and logistics,” stated Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group. Al Maktoum emphasized the sector’s post-pandemic recovery and its growing demand for skilled professionals. Directly employed aviation jobs, such as those with Emirates and Dubai Airports, are projected to rise from 103,000 to 127,000 by 2030. The expansion of Dubai World Central—Al Maktoum International Airport will play a pivotal role in meeting the demand, eventually supporting 132,000 additional jobs once fully operational. Dubai World Central is expected to contribute Dh6.1 billion to Dubai’s GDP by 2030. “Our investment in Al Maktoum International Airport will open further economic opportunities,” added Sheikh Ahmed.
