6 universities named best in Dubai, 2 named worst

  DUBAI – Six universities in Dubai were given 5-star ratings as the best universities in the emirate in the latest Higher Education Classification developed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. The system rated 17 universities in Dubai for the 2019-2020 academic year based on certain criteria that include facilities, well-being, teaching, employability, research and programmes. Both Heriot-Watt University and London Business School maintained their 5-star rating from last school year, landing among the top six best universities in Dubai this year. Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pila (BITS Pilani) Dubai Campus, Manipal University, Middlesex University and City University of London also got a 5-star ranking, improving from a 4-star rate last school year. Meanwhile, two universities were rated the worst: Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology, which improved to a 2-star ranking from the lowest of 1 star last year, and Islamic Azad University, which maintained its two-star ranking. University of Bradford was the only university that slipped in the rankings this year, going down to 3 stars from last year’s 4-star ranking.
