DUBAI – A non-profit Chinese school, the first of its kind in Dubai, will open in the emirate in September. The Chinese School Dubai in Mirdif will follow Chinese national curriculum, with Arabic and Islamic studies added. The school will initially offer classes up to grade 5 and will open with nearly 200 pupils and 37 teachers. The school has a capacity of 2,000 pupils. Some teachers will be recruited in China by the Hangzhou Education Bureau. The school will accept pupils of all nationalities and will be the first overseas Chinese school funded by the Chinese government. "The Chinese School Dubai will be the heart of the Chinese community in Dubai and foster a rich exchange of teaching and learning opportunities with other schools in Dubai,” said Abdulla Al Karam, director general of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority.
