Dubai's population rises above 3 million

  DUBAI - The population of Dubai has risen to more than three million, with 200,000 more people moving in the emirate in the last 12 months, new statistics showed. According to the Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC), Dubai's population swelled to 3,136,400 by the end of the third quarter of 2018. The figure is 232,000 more than the population recorded on the same period in 2017. During daytime, Dubai's population surges to 4,291,400, which reflects the number of people who could be in the emirate for holidays, leisure or work. “The population of non-resident workers and temporary residents in Dubai is currently 1,155,000, while the total active daytime population of the emirate is 4,291,400. As much as 37% of Dubai’s active daytime population comes from outside the emirate," said Arif Al Mehairi, DSC Executive Director. Meanwhile, the number of temporary residents in the city has risen by 6.6 percent over the last 12 months, with the total resident population rising by 1.1 percent. There are more males residing in Dubai, accounting for 2,195,480 of the population, compared to 940,920 female residents. Two thirds of the population are aged between 20 and 44 (66.45 percent). Of this number, 17.97 percent are aged 30 to 34 and 16.63 percent fro 25 to 29.
