Duterte admits killing drug pushers in Davao City; admission comes just hours after he said 'he is not a killer'

  MANILA - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday said he personally killed drug suspects during his stint as mayor of Davao City as he defended anew his administration's drive against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country saying those slain were killed in legitimate police operations. "I know it (referring to the police operations) because—I am not trying to pull my own chair—in Davao I used to do it personally. Just to show to the (policemen) that if I can do it, why can't you," Duterte said during the Wallace Business Forum in Malacanang Palace on Monday night. His admission came just hours after he said in a speech during the awarding of The Outstanding Young Men and Women in Malacanang also last Monday that he is not a killer and that his administration has nothing to do with the extrajudicial killings of drug pushers and user. He even warned policemen and soldiers that he will shoot them down if they kill innocent civilians in the campaign against the illegal drug scourge in the country that started after Duterte assumed the presidency on June 30. In his speech before the Wallace Business Forum attendees, Duterte said "I go around in Davao (on) a big bike and I would just patrol the streets and looking for trouble. I was really for an encounter to kill." Despite criticism from the local opposition and by other countries and international organizations about how the drug war is being carried out because of human rights violations, Duterte said he won't relent in his campaign against illegal drugs. “If I am afraid (and) stop because of the human rights, sorry, I am not about to do that.
