Duterte-backed Senate bets dominate among Filipino voters in Kuwait

Overseas Filipinos in Kuwait handed a clean victory to the Duterte-allied candidates in the 2025 Senate elections, with all 12 top vote-getters coming from PDP Laban’s slate. Leading the tally were Bong Go and Bato Dela Rosa, who both served under the Duterte administration and remain central figures in the political bloc. They were followed by Rodante Marcoleta and Jimmy Bondoc, both prominent supporters of Duterte’s return to the Philippines from The Hague. The vote in Kuwait demonstrated the resonance of the campaign message to “protect the Vice President” and resist impeachment moves against Sara Duterte. While turnout figures were modest, the near-identical results across GCC countries underscore the overseas electorate’s support to the Duterte camp.
