EAD Abu Dhabi launches digital system for environmental inspection

The Abu Dhabi Environment Agency (EAD) recently inaugurated 'Eltezam,' a new digital system for environmental inspection and compliance evaluation that allows EAD inspectors to evaluate facilities and projects based on actual on-site activities and operations. Instead of being confined to activities mentioned on their environmental license, the new method permits inspectors to thoroughly analyze any part of an organization's activity in terms of possible environmental harm. The launch of 'Eltezam' is part of EAD's continued efforts to fulfill its regulatory duty in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by protecting environmental standards. By developing regulatory frameworks in the emirate, the Agency can limit environmental harm while regularly updating ecological conditions and standards with the industrial sector's rate of development. With the launch of the new digital system, EAD intends to build a solid and effective inspection system that covers all industrial sectors, infrastructure projects, and commercial activities under its jurisdiction, noting that the inspection system was built on algorithms that link industrial sectors with production processes and conditions. The Agency has undertaken a series of training workshops for its inspectors to familiarize them with the new system's features. The environmental inspection and compliance system includes 93 EAD-licensed sectors. It also examines the ecological implications of 38 operational processes by monitoring 277 potential environmental infractions to prevent harm from all environmental contaminants across all Agency-regulated activities.
