An Egyptian national has died and four others were injured after debris from an intercepted aerial attack fell on gas facilities in Abu Dhabi, authorities confirmed. In a statement on Saturday (April 4), the Abu Dhabi Media Office said the incident occurred at the Habshan gas site following the successful interception of a threat by air defence systems. “As part of the ongoing follow up to the previously reported incident at Habshan gas facilities, caused by falling debris following the successful interception by air defence systems, authorities confirm that two fires broke out and emergency response teams acted swiftly to bring the situation under control,” the Media Office said. Authorities said a worker died during the evacuation of the site. “As a result of this incident, one Egyptian national tragically lost his life during the evacuation of the site,” the statement said. Four others sustained minor injuries, including two Pakistani nationals and two Egyptians. Emergency teams were able to contain the fires quickly, although officials confirmed that the facility sustained significant damage. A full assessment is ongoing. ICA/Expat Media
