Authorities have confirmed that Eid Al Adha in the UAE will begin on Friday (June 6) 2025, following the successful sighting of the crescent moon marking the start of Dhu Al Hijjah. The UAE’s moon-sighting committee confirmed that the Hajj pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on Wednesday (June 4), with Arafat Day falling on Thursday, June 5. This means that UAE residents will get a 4-day weekend, with authorities announcing that the public holiday will begin on June 5 to mark Arafat Day, and continue from June 6 to 8 for the Eid Al Adha holiday. Employees will resume work on Monday (June 9). Eid Al Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to God. It is one of the holiest holidays in Islam and includes prayers, feasts, and acts of charity such as animal sacrifice. Later in June, UAE residents can expect another long weekend for Islamic New Year. The UAE Cabinet earlier confirmed 12 public holidays in 2025 under Resolution No. 27. Following Eid Al Adha, the next public holidays will be: • Islamic New Year: Thursday, June 26 • Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday: Friday, September 5 • UAE National Day: Tuesday and Wednesday, December 2–3
