What are the COVID-19 guidelines during Eid prayers and gatherings?

The National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) has recently announced the health measures to be followed during Eid prayers and gatherings. Stickers should be put up in mosques and outdoor spaces surrounding mosques to remind the public to observe physical distancing. Parks and parking lots in and around mosques should be respected and give way to accommodate worshippers. Mosques and prayer halls will open for Eid Al Fitr prayers after dawn prayers on Eid days, with speakers scheduled to announce the Eid takbeers half an hour before the Eid prayers begin. The combined duration of prayers and Khutba (sermon) is set to 20 minutes, while the entry and exit of worshipers will be supervised by police patrols, volunteers, and imams. Worshippers must wear face masks at all times and maintain a physical distance of one meter, especially when near vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and people of determination. Use of personal or single-use worship mats is encouraged. Gatherings, handshakes, and physical greetings are to be avoided, and instead, should opt for verbal greetings while maintaining physical distancing. Valid and active green pass on the Al Hosn app should be ensured. Eidiya (an Eid gift in money form for children) is encouraged to be given electronically.
