When is Eid Al Fitr in UAE?

DUBAI – As the UAE gears up for a long Eid weekend, a committee has been formed to spot the new moon cycle to indicate the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid Al Fitr. But when exactly is the start of Eid Al Fitr? The committee will meet on Monday (June 3) after sunset prayers to search for the new moon cycle. The committee includes court officials from Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, astronomers and UAE Islamic authority advisors. If the committee sights the new moon on June 3, then Ramadan will be declared over and Eid Al Fitr will start on Tuesday (June 4). If a new moon is not seen, Ramadan will continue for another day and Eid will begin on Wednesday (June 5). On Monday, the UAE Cabinet approved a seven-day Eid Al Fitr holiday for the public sector starting on June 2. Work will resume on Sunday (June 9), the Cabinet announced. Private sector employees will have their Eid break beginning on June 3, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
