Tech billionaire Elon Musk is planning a monumental addition to Dubai’s landscape: a $1 billion science institute that promises to attract the brightest minds from around the world. Dubbed “The Musk Institute,” the facility aims to advance studies in gravity, nuclear fusion, and other groundbreaking scientific fields. In an interview with Arabian Business, Elon’s father, Errol Musk, shared details about the ambitious project. “Dubai is central to the world,” Errol said. “We wanted to build an academy of science to retain the greatest and craziest minds.” The institute aims to tackle a pressing issue: the global “brain drain.” According to Errol, the Musk family envisions the facility as a hub for innovation that will keep talent in the region while fostering collaboration among international researchers. The Musk family has been discussing this concept since the launch of SpaceX in 2001. “Elon said, ‘We must do it now or somebody else will,’” Errol revealed. Set to break ground in 2025, the institute will feature a state-of-the-art three-story building with accommodations for researchers and students. In a nod to the Musk family’s quirky creativity, the facility will even include a burger-dispensing machine. Beyond its infrastructure, the institute has grander ambitions.
