Emergency travel certificate to be issued to Indians in UAE

DUBAI – The Indian Consulate in Dubai said it will issue emergency travel certificates to Indians with expired visas and passports to help them return home. The campaign will run for two months, said Indian Consul General in Dubai Dr. Aman Puri. Puri said thousands of Indians in the UAE did not have necessary documents needed to book seats on repatriation flights. Many Indian workers in the UAE don’t have their passports, which have been kept by their employers, Puri said. The consul general said that camps have also been set up in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah to facilitate the registration of those wishing to avail of the service. He expects thousands of Indians to apply for the emergency certificates. At least 370,000 Indians have left the UAE on repatriation flights since the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic.
