Emirates Airlines has strongly denied the authenticity of a widely circulated social media video purportedly showing an aircraft bearing the airline’s logo involved in a crash. In an official statement posted on its X account on Saturday (January 4), the airline clarified that the video is fabricated and does not represent a real event. The video, which gained traction on various social media platforms, has caused alarm among viewers, prompting the airline to take immediate action. “We have become aware of a video that is currently in circulation on various social media platforms, which appears to show the crash of an aircraft bearing the Emirates logo. We can confirm that this video is a fabrication and does not depict a real-life event,” Emirates said in its post. The airline emphasized that safety remains at the core of its operations and brand. “It is regrettable that the platforms’ responses to these content review requests are not sufficiently expeditious; consequently, it was deemed necessary to issue this statement,” Emirates added. According to the company, efforts are underway to collaborate with social media platforms to remove the video or mark it as digitally altered. "We urge audiences to refer to official sources to avoid the dissemination of false and alarming information," the airline stated. The fabricated video comes at a time when Emirates Airlines has been in the spotlight for its operational excellence. Recently, Emirates SkyCargo announced the launch of a dedicated weekly freighter to Copenhagen Airport, responding to increasing demand from Denmark and neighboring countries such as Norway and Sweden. The Boeing 777 freighter, which carries approximately 85 tonnes of cargo, marks Emirates’ 38th destination in its global freighter network. The airline reported a 20p percent growth in cargo volumes from Denmark last year, driven primarily by pharmaceutical shipments. ICA/Expat Media
