Emirates, Etihad open June flights from Manila, Pakistan to UAE
DUBAI – This June, Emirates and Etihad have opened one-way flights to the UAE from select cities, including Manila and Pakistan, to allow expatriates to return to the country. Earlier in May, UAE authorities announced that expatriates with valid residence visa and family in the UAE can start returning to the country, provided that they have already secured an entry permit from the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship (ICA). The ICA called on those qualified to register for an entry permit through the service Residents’ Entry Permit via its website on smartservices.ica.gov.ae. From June 8, Emirates will offer flights from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad for travellers from Pakistan who wish to reach Dubai. This is on top of passenger flights already operating to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Chicago, Toronto, Sydney, Melbourne and Manila. Abu-Dhabi based carrier Etihad said will operate a number of flights until June 30 to help expatriates return to the UAE. “Travellers must hold a valid UAE resident visa and ICA approval number – you will not be permitted to enter the UAE otherwise,” Etihad reminded travellers. All passengers will undertake Covid-19 testing and thermal testing when they arrive into Abu Dhabi, and are required to self-isolate for 14 days. “Due to government restrictions across our network, you will be required to check in your cabin baggage before you fly. You will only be permitted to carry a personal item on board, such as a handbag, backpack or laptop bag. Before you can fly, you must apply for ICA approval. The service will ask for your flight booking reference, however it is not mandatory and you can leave this field blank. If your application is successful, you’ll receive a unique ICA approval number, which you will need for when your check-in for your flight. All guests must ensure they have ICA approval from the Abu Dhabi Government before they fly. Guest who do not have ICA approval will not be accepted at check-in.
