Maryam Bahlooq is the first Emirati woman to be appointed as chief executive

  DUBAI - Emirates NBD, which runs Dubai's biggest bank, yesterday announced the appointment of Maryam Bahlooq as chief executive officer (CEO) of its subsidiary, Tanfeeth. Bahlooq is the first Emirati woman to be appointed as CEO. She previously served as acting group head for human resources and headed the Human Resources Business Partnership unit at Emirates NBD. Tanfeeth ("getting the job done" in Arabic) was established in 2011 as a shared services organization that aims to "improve the group's customer service and operational efficiency." According to a statement issued by the company, Bahlooq "played a pivotal role in the people management aspect of the bank's mergers and acquisitions, both local and international" during her stint as acting human resources head. "Maryam's experience and track record of guiding and motivating diverse groups to enhance business performance equips her well to lead Tanfeeth. Tanfeeth plays a crucial role within the Group and I am confident that with Maryam's leadership, the team will continue to scale service excellence standards and deliver outstanding support across our business units and subsidiaries," said Abdulla Qassem, group chief operating officer of Emirates NBD and chairman of Tanfeeth.
