Emirates passengers fume after baggage crisis continues   DUBAI – Passengers of Emirates continued to flood the airline’s Facebook page with complaints on Friday (August 12) to voice their frustration over their lost baggage. It was not immediately clear how many passengers were affected, but Emirates said it faced delays of up to eight hours on its global network after one its planes made an emergency landing at Dubai International on August 3. All 300 passengers and crew members of flight EK521 were evacuated to safety, however, the plane burst into flames, prompting the temporary closure of the busy airport. The incident also led to several flight cancellations. Passenger Gregory Stegman said that he flew to Barcelona on an Emirates plane on August 4 and was dismayed to find that his suitcase was missing. “‪It's now almost 10 days without clothes, jewellery, medical supplies and personal effects,” Stegman wrote on Emirates’ Facebook page. Con Tsimalas voiced a similar complaint, calling the airline a “joke”. “My daughter arrived back to Sydney and bags were nowhere to be found. Total of 50 complaining that their bags didn't arrive. After being told they would arrive the next day, here we are 5 days later and still no bags or contact from Emirates! Phone number provided is not working or permanently engaged. What a joke,” Tsimalas said. Another passenger also criticised Emirates for the lack of response on the baggage crisis. “ days and still no luggage. times have given Emirates our email address, still no messages. Do you treat all your customers with contempt?” Mick Monaro said. “100 hour plus.... still no bags but worst if all NO CONTACT FROM EMIRATES!!!!!! Totally unacceptable. We call daily... you may as well just have a pre recorded message advising 'we will call you when we have news of your luggage' ,” Sonia Solly wrote on Facebook. As of press time, there was no response from Emirates on the passengers’ comments.
