Motorists heading towards Sharjah on Emirates Road are facing delays as sections of the highway remain closed due to Etihad Rail construction work. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced that the closure, which began on Saturday (August 23) affects the stretch at Al Badia Bridge, and will stay in place until 5am on Monday (August 25). Traffic heading to Sharjah has been diverted via Al Suyoh Tunnel towards Al-Mleiha Eastern Road. The ministry explained the closure is necessary to build a temporary bridge for the national railway project. “We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring smooth traffic flow,” the ministry said in a statement. This comes as part of a larger 14-kilometer rehabilitation project on Emirates Road, which is expected to ease congestion once complete.
